ঝুপড়িঘরগুলো মাটির সঙ্গে মিশে গেছে, আধা পাকা ঘর ভেঙে পড়েছে, কোনো কোনো ভবনের টিনের ছাউনি উড়ে গেছে, নারকেলগাছগুলোর মাথা ভাঙাI মোখার আঘাতে বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত জনপদ সেন্ট মার্টিন। জলোচ্ছ্বাস না হওয়ায় মানুষ বেঁচে গেছে, কিন্তু দরিদ্র মানুষের ঘরবাড়ি টিকে নেই। তাদের ঘরবাড়ি লন্ডভন্ড হয়ে গেছে। দ্বীপে ১ হাজার ৯০০টির মতো ঘরবাড়ি আছে। ৭০০টির মতো ঘরবাড়ি প্রায় পুরোপুরি বিধ্বস্ত হয়েছে। এসব কাঁচা অথবা ঝুপড়ি—টিন, চাটাই অথবা ত্রিপল দিয়ে তৈরি। আরও ৩০০টির মতো ঘর আংশিক ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। দোকানপাট, হোটেল, রিসোর্টও ক্ষতির মুখে পড়েছে। অনেক গাছপালা ভেঙেছে। আসুন আমরা একত্রিত হই এবং যাদের আশ্রয় প্রয়োজন তাদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর জন্য আমাদের হাত প্রসারিত করি। Read More

ঝিনাইদহ জেলার মহেশপুর উপজেলার হুদা দুর্গাপুর গ্রামের অটিস্টিক ও প্রতিবন্ধী বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী ২৩০ জন। দুইটি ইউনিয়নের ৩৫টি গ্রামের প্রতিবন্ধী ছেলে মেয়েরা এই বিদ্যালয়ে ফ্রিতে লেখাপড়া সুযোগ পাচ্ছে।

ভিন্নভাবে সক্ষম এই সকল শিক্ষার্থীদের বিশেষ যত্নে আনা নেওয়া করা হয়। কিন্তু স্কুল কর্তৃপক্ষের পর্যাপ্ত পরিবহন না থাকায় ছেলে মেয়েদের আনা নেওয়া সমস্যা হচ্ছে। স্কুল কর্তৃপক্ষের এই সকল শিক্ষার্থীদের আনা নেওয়ার জন্য অংকুর ফাউন্ডেশনের কাছে দুইটি পরিবহনের জন্য আবেদন করেছেন।

A tragic drowning event took place at Karatoa river in Boda upazila of Panchagarh on Sunday, September 25, 2022, which left 69 people dead and a few more missing. The trawler, carrying 70-80 passengers including women and children, capsized in the middle of the river while heading towards Badheshwar Temple on the occasion of Mayalaya at around 2:30 pm. 69 people died including 20 children, 30 women, and 17 men. Our 89 batch Dhaka College and DU IBA friend Ashraf Hakim Razzak passed away at 3:21 AM on May 1st in a Chicago hospital due to lung complications. He is buried in Chicago with some local help. After loosing his job in Bangladesh at the beginning of Covid pandemic, Razzak searched for one for two years without any success. To seek a better life, he wrapped up everything in Bangladesh and came to Chicago, USA on F-1 visa last December to finish his graduate degree at Illinois Institute of Technology that he first attempted many years back. Our friend Shah Alam, [CE, BUET Batch 89, ex Ahsanullah Hall Resident] passed away on August 31, 2020. He had a massive heart attack while on his way back from a business trip. Unfortunately, none of his family member or friend was there with him during his last breath. Our beloved friend left behind his wife, two daughters, and a son who is in 5th grade. His elder daughter is going to college for her higher secondary and the younger daughter is in 9th grade. Shah Alam was a single earner for the family and supported not only his immediate family but also took care of two mothers and sister's family. Even though he had a decent professional life, because of all the family burden, he could not save much for his children's education and their wellbeing. Read More

Md. Liakat Ali was working as a cashier in Al Arafah Islami Bank at Chuknagar Branch in Khulna. He was the youngest kids among the seven siblings. He lost both his parents at an early age and grew up at his brother's and sister's houses with lot of hardships. He worked at different Bangladeshi organization for last twenty years. He always worked at the frontline with very low pay and lived with other people. He went through financial hardship throughout his entire life. He got his last job in the bank three years ago and he was indebted with loans from different people to support his family.
