Our friend Mahmud experienced a parent's worst nightmare last month, when his elder son Jabir Mahmud, was diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL), stage II, a type of blood cancer.
Wing Commander Mahmud, Aviation Safety Instructor in Flight Safety Institute of Bangladesh Air Force, left everything behind and came to DC Children National Hospital where Jabir's treatment is underway. His wife also left her job at a reputed bank (EBL) in Bangladesh to be fully there for her child.
They made the hardest trip of their lives from Dhaka to the USA on November 14th, 2018. It's going to be an even longer journey for the next three to five years with different phases of treatment. Besides the medical treatments for their son, they are trying hard to survive both emotionally and financially.
No matter how hard they are trying, they can use all the support they can get.
As members of Mahmud’s community and as his friends, we want to extend a helping hand to him. To reassure him that he is not alone and that we will support him to the best of our abilities.
Please extend your support towards Zabir’s treatment at your earliest convenience. Any amount is welcome. If you cannot provide financial support, please pray for him and help us by sharing this information with your friends and family. With our combined efforts and prayers, we can return some aspect of normalcy to Mahmud’s life, and help him and his family through these extremely trying times.
