আমাদের গণিতকণ্যাদের পাশে দাঁড়াবেন কি?
প্রতিবছর ইউরোপের একটি দেশ আয়োজনের দায়িত্ব নেয় ইউরোপিয়ান গার্লস ম্যাথমেটিকাল অলিম্পিয়াড (EGMO)-র। বিশ্বের বাঘা বাঘা দেশের স্কুল-কলেজ পড়ুয়া গণিতের সেরা ছাত্রীরা অংশ নিতে আসে মেয়েদের জন্যে আয়োজিত বিশ্বের সর্ববৃহৎ এই অলিম্পিয়াডে। ২০২১ সালে প্রথমবার ইজিএমোতে অংশ নেয় বাংলাদেশ দল এবং প্রথমবারেই এই মর্যাদাপূর্ণ আসরে রৌপ্য ও ব্রোঞ্জপদক অর্জন করে আমাদের নুজহাত আহমেদ দিশা ও রাইয়ান বিনতে মোস্তাফা। ২০২২ এ এই সাফল্যের ঝুলি আরও বড়। দলগত স্কোর এবার ২৭ থেকে বেড়ে ৫৭ হবার পাশাপাশি বাংলাদেশ দল অর্জন করে দুইটি ব্রোঞ্জ পদক (নুজহাত আহমেদ দিশা, রাইয়ান বিনতে মোস্তাফা)ও দুইটি সম্মানজনক স্বীকৃতি (আফসানা আক্তার, আরিফা আলম) ।
এবছর স্লোভেনিয়ায় হতে যাওয়া ইজিএমো-২০২৩-এর জন্যে বাংলাদেশ দলের চলছে কঠোর প্রস্তুতি। কিন্তু ফান্ডিং এর অনিশ্চয়তায় বাংলাদেশের অংশগ্রহণ নিয়ে দেখা দিয়েছে শঙ্কা। রেজিস্ট্রেশন, যাতায়াত, ভিসা ও অন্যান্য আনুষাঙ্গিক খাত মিলিয়ে রয়েছে বড় খরচ। আমরা চাই না অর্থের অভাবে আমাদের মেয়েরা তাদের প্রতিভার স্বাক্ষর রাখা থেকে বঞ্চিত হোক। তাই, আপনাদের কাছে সাহায্যের জন্য আসা। আপনাদের ক্ষুদ্র ক্ষুদ্র আর্থিক সাহায্যই হয়ত বিশ্বমঞ্চে বাংলাদেশের পতাকা গর্বের সাথে তুলে ধরবার সুযোগ করে দিবে। আমাদের মেয়েদের পাশে এসে দাঁড়াবেন কি?
European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad is the biggest olympiad organized for pre-university students. The best students of mathematics from all over the world come together to compete and prove their extraordinary mathematical abilities at this olympiad. Bangladesh participated in the EGMO in 2021 hosted by Georgia. In their very first participation the Bangladesh team bagged a Silver and a Bronze medal. With a total team score of 27 points Bangladesh beat India, Netherlands and many other European countries. The team continued their success in EGMO 2022 hosted by Hungary. They were awarded two Bronze Medals (Nujhat Ahmed Disha and Rayan Bintay Mostafa) and two Honorable Mentions (Arifa Alam and Afsana Akter). The total team score went up to 57 points. The participants' success in the last two years inspired our campers, younger participants, mentors, and all the organizers. We are putting our best foot forward to support our girls to continue to shine on this platform. Girls in Bangladesh are often not encouraged to choose challenging subjects in STEM, especially math. Our team doing so well in international competitions like EGMO is really inspiring for the girls in our society. And this is also boosting their confidence and creating a strong mindset to take on bigger challenges. Sadly, we still do not have enough funding to ensure the participation of our Girls’ team at this olympiad. The registration fee itself is a total of $6200 USD. There are additional expenses of flights, visa and other relevant issues. Our girls are eagerly waiting to prove their mathematical geniuses at this year’s EGMO in Slovenia. This is also an amazing opportunity for them to interact with the best mathematical minds of the world. To turn their dream into reality we need your financial contribution.
