Save Azhar - a jobless teacher
======================
Syed Nurul Azhar, a 66-year-old former Instructional Designer for Educational Materials in a Public university of Bangladesh is suffering from Gastric Adenocarcinoma (stomach cancer) based on endoscopic biopsy done at BIRDEM in early June. Oncological surgeon Dr. Jahangir Kabir and Oncologist Dr. Mohammad Masudul Hasan Arup of Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital confirmed that as the disease has not spread beyond the stomach, the cancer is potentially curable by surgical resection of the cancer and chemotherapy both before and after the surgery.
Mr. Azhar left his job and lost all his assets trying to settle to a western country for 12 years. When he came back to Bangladesh empty handed, he could not get any job in Bangladesh. He is living with his wife's elder sister's house in Dhaka. He is also suffering from a number of medical conditions including diabetes, hypertension, sleep-apnea and reflux. With the help from relatives and friends, his family was able to survive for last 6 years. But he can’t afford his cancer treatment. Currently, he is borrowing money for all his investigations and tests.
Below is an approximate calculation of all types of medical expenses:
1. BIRDEM hospital treatment cost: 1,00,000/=
2. Cost of various scan tests and various blood tests: 1,00,000/=
3. Chemotherapy cost (8 FLOT cycles) : 6,64,000/=
4. Stomach surgery cost: 3,00,000/=
5. Cost for managing complication (estimated): 3,00,000/=
Total Estimated Cost: (Fourteen Lakh and Sixty-Four Thousand)
Let’s come forward to save this former teacher’s live.
