We are organizing this fundraiser for Sagar Kumar Das, an ex-student of department of EEE, BUET of batch 2016. A few days ago, he underwent a primary MRI test at LabAid Hospital due to mild headaches, dizziness, and lack of coordination. Unfortunately, the test revealed a rare type of brain tumor known as cystic glioma of pontine origin, located in an extremely sensitive area of the brain that controls heart and respiratory functions. A medical board at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University was formed and concluded that the tumor is not amenable to surgery because it may affect either his cardiac functions or respiratory processes. Following consultation with a cancer specialist in the United States, it was concluded that the tumor is not amenable to surgery, and radiation therapy is the most reasonable treatment.

Subsequently, Sagar went to India, consulted with Dr. Siddharth Ghosh at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, and underwent initial tests, revealing hydrocephalus (accumulation of fluid in the brain) alongside the brain tumor. Shunt surgery for hydrocephalus has already been performed. A biopsy was also conducted, indicating a Grade 2 tumor, which is highly dangerous. To save his life, immediate CyberKnife radiation therapy is required, costing more than 50 lakh bdt in total (for next 3 months), with 20 lakh bdt needed by February 19th. Sagar is the son of a farmer, and his family cannot bear this massive expense. Without prompt treatment, his condition will worsen.

We are asking for your financial assistance in supporting Sagar's medical treatment so that he can fight against this rare and life-threatening illness. We do not want financial constraints to hinder his treatment. Sagar's medical reports can be found at the following link: [link to medical reports].
