A Humanitarian appeal for Zuhair
14-year-old Zuhair has been diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma. The cancer was discovered at a very late stage. The first 2 chemotherapy did not deliver anything positive, 3rd chemo showed some progress and with that doctors have decided to pursue a new set of treatments.
His cancer has spread out to three organs (brain, liver, and lungs) and will require a stem cell transplant. Currently, doctors have operated in the brain to have localized radiation. The next step is to go through very high doses of chemotherapy to destroy the bone marrow before the stem cell transplant. The transplant either will be autologous (self) or allogeneic (donor) based stem cell transplant.
Zuhair is the only son of Asifur Rahman (Govt. Lab batch '89). To treat Zuhair, the family is living in India for the past 6 months. At this point, his family will need financial help and support from friends and well-wishers to cover the enormous cost. We are trying to raise $25k to help the cause.
